About Tollheit & Bio
Tollheit is a progressive rock musical project created by composer, arranger, producer and keyboardist Robert Doucette. It's a showcase of his original compositions and arrangements along with other miscellaneous projects.
Tollheit (pronounced: toll-hight) is a German word for madness.
Robert Doucette got into music at the age of 13 when he went through his father's CD collection one day and found a copy of Return To Forever's "Romantic Warrior". From then on, he was inspired to be a musician.
He started playing the guitar at 15 and became obsessed with jazz/rock fusion and progressive rock, and also fell in love with composing and arranging as well. His first album demo "Eureka" was released in 2003 when he was just 18, and he went on to record 5 more album demos. At age 19, he made the decision to take on the piano as his main instrument and has remand predominantly a keyboard player to this day.
After graduating high school in 2004, Robert went to Arizona State Univerity (ASU) to study piano performance, composition, music theory and recording engineering.
Due to personal issues in 2012, Robert had to take a 7 year hiatus from music. In 2019 he decided to resume his music career and went to set up his studio in the bedroom of his apartment. He then went to work on his first official album "Paramount Dreams", which was actually his final album demo from 2011. It was remastered and included some earlier compositions from his early album demos.
"Paramount Dreams (Deluxe Remastered)" was released in 2020, followed by "Atlas Of Limbo" and "Checkmate" in 2021. "Tales From The Cauldron" in 2022, followed by "Opera Circus" and "Melancholy Zen" In 2023. Since Robert is not a vocalist, all of these albums were fully instrumental.
However in 2024, Robert decided to add vocals in his music because of advances in AI. In August 2024 Robert released his 7th studio album "Bloody Sunday", which was the first album to be released with AI vocals. He is currently working on new musical compositions with lyrics, and is optimistic about the future and is very excited about new musical projects ahead.
